Live Healthy With the Right Vitamins

Live Healthy With the Right Vitamins
By Lance Carr

A well balanced diet has many benefits and it is easier to achieve than many people think. Good nutrition is as simple as adding foods rich in vitamins to your diet. Vitamins have a positive impact on our energy, complexion, and immune systems.

Vitamin A promotes good eyesight and protects against bacteria and viruses. Vitamin B, once thought to be a single vitamin, is actually a group of eight that help our bodies in a wide variety of ways. Vitamin C helps support our immune systems and contributes greatly to our overall health.

A fat soluble vitamin, vitamin A is a retinol due to the fact that it produces the pigments found in the eye's retina. Our bodies use vitamin A in many ways. Vitamin A promotes good eyesight, particularly night vision, by keeping the surface linings of the eyes healthy. The surface linings of the intestinal, respiratory, and urinary tracts are also kept healthy by vitamin A.

Used in many skin creams to fight wrinkles, vitamin A can also help in getting rid of acne in both teens and adults. Vitamin A can be found in foods like sweet potatoes, carrots, eggs, spinach, and apricots.

The vitamin B complex is eight vitamins often found together in foods like whole-grains, leafy green vegetables, and meat. B1 helps the body, metabolize fat and protein as well as turn carbohydrates into energy. B2 is needed by the body to convert the foods we eat into energy. B3 helps the body metabolize carbohydrates and is an anti-inflammatory that may help in adult acne treatment. B5 supports several metabolic functions we need in order to grow and be healthy.

The metabolizing of fats, proteins and carbohydrates is assisted by vitamin B6. B7 helps our bodies utilize carbon dioxide and form fats. Folic acid is the more commonly used name of vitamin B9 and is utilized by the body to create red blood cells.

The final vitamin in the B complex is B12 which supports the development of red blood cells and is found in all cells in the body.

While many animals are able to produce their own vitamin C, humans cannot and need to ingest foods with vitamin C in order to benefit from it. Vitamin C is found in foods like broccoli, strawberries, cauliflower, and of course, oranges.

Protecting the body from disease, vitamin C supports the body's immune system. A powerful antioxidant, it can help delay and diminish the effects of aging on our cells. The antioxidant properties combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of vitamin C make it a common tool in some of the best acne treatment programs, penetrating the skin to reduce and prevent breakouts. Vitamin C, when combined with other anti-inflammatory vitamins, can help reduce the symptoms of inflammatory ailments like arthritis and heart disease.

One of the keys to healthy living is getting the vitamins our bodies need. Vitamins support our immune systems, help us process the foods we eat, and increase our energy levels. Reaping the benefits that vitamins offer is as easy as eating foods that are vitamin-rich every day.
